Dorothy S. Welch, 90, of Marshall, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Marshall. Born Feb. 20, 1918, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Burford C. Wood and Mattie Elvira Edwards Wood. On Dec. 28, 1938, in Warrensburg, she married Harvey E. Welch, who preceded her in death on April 25, 1989. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and had worked at the telephone company and as a dental assistant. She was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Marshall Chapter 408 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son, Harvey E. Welch Jr. and his wife, Marilyn, of Salem, S.C.; two grandchildren, Todd Harrison Welch and Jennifer Ann Silvestro; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Grace Silvestro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Wood, and two sisters, Mary Jarvis Trout and Mildred Stegner.
