Marshall, in its first game of the evening, put up 10 runs in the first two innings and coasted to an 11-4 victory over the Knob Noster Eagles.
Marshall scored four in the first inning and six in the second to build their 10 run margin. The MHS squad played nearly flawless until surrendering four meaningless runs in the top of the fourth.
They were, however, unable to carry any momentum into the second contest, suffering a 9-1 drubbing at the hands of the Warrensburg Rapid Fire.
Warrensburg's Skyler Lankford kicked off the scoring in the second with a two-run RBI single. Lexi Hill chipped in later in the second inning with a two-run RBI single of her own, putting Marshall in a hole from which they could not recover.
Chandra Crawford was a minor bright spot for the MHS girls. Crawford batted in Marshall's lone run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
The second game of Marshall's doubleheader with Warrensburg was far more competitive than the opener.
The local girls raced out to a promising 5-0 lead after two innings, but Warrensburg cut the deficit to 5-3 late in the game.
The Rapid Fire trailed by two runs with only one out in the fifth, but Marshall recorded the final two outs in succession to preserve a hard fought victory.
Emily Aldredge paced the Marshall offense with two hits and three RBIs in just three at bats.
