Virginia E. Zeysing, 97, of Marshall, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Chris Weber officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Blosser Home for the Aged. Born Sept. 27, 1910, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Archie Alexander Buie and Orpha D. Bentley Buie. On July 20, 1953, she married Bowman P. Zeysing, who preceded her in death May 10, 1981. She had lived in Saline County her entire life, graduated from Marshall High School in 1928 and from Missouri Valley College in 1932. She did graduate work at University of Missouri-Columbia and at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. She taught in Saline County rural schools for nine years and at Marshall Public Schools for 31 years. She first became a member of Mt. Olive Church where her great-grandfather, Daniel Buie, was a pioneer minister, and later became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marshall. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the American Revolution, Saline County Retired Teacher's Association, Missouri Retired Teacher's Association and National Retired Teacher's Association.
Survivors include two step-grandsons, Roland Brooks and James Brooks, both of the Lake of the Ozarks area; several step-great-grandchildren; several cousins; and good friends, Gene and Jackie Self of rural Warsaw, MO and their children, Shani Phillips, Delbert Self Jr. and Sheri Thomas and their children.
