Mildred Ann Franklin, 93, of rural Slater, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Miami Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Sept. 3, 1914, in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wheeler Harris and Ora Leigh Yowell Harris. On Sept. 3, 1941, she married James Leroy "Jim" Franklin, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2001. She had lived in rural Slater most of her life and was a member of Miami United Methodist Church, Davis Community Club and Slater and Carrollton Saddle Clubs.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Franklin Nichols and Jana Franklin Battson, both of rural Slater; one son, James Michael Franklin and his wife, Tammy, of Clifton, Texas; six grandchildren, Michelle Brands, Kristy Miller, April Wilson, Jed Battson, Jerrod Battson and Cody Franklin; one great-grandson, Sage Brands; one brother, Joe Harris Jr. of rural Slater; one sister, Hart Vaughn of Escondido, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Bell.
