Claude Edward Scott, 81, of Blackburn, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at The Groves in Independence.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, at Gibson Funeral home in Waverly, with Russell Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. He was born July 15, 1926, in Greenville, Ky., the son of Leslie Mitchell Scott and Lois Evelyn Cockrill Scott. He attended school in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He attended the Baptist Church. He was united in marriage July 23, 1971, in Waverly, to Elsie Marilyn Miller, who survives. He retired from Allis-Chalmers combine division, where he was an inspector for over 26 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Charleen Harris of Ridgeway, Claude E. Scott Jr. of Independence, Keenan Lane Fields of Central City, Ky., Lisa Williams and her husband, Ernie, of Warsaw and Rebekah Burke and husband, Jason, of Blackburn; one brother, Bill Scott of Madisonville, Ky.; seven grandchildren, John Harris, Brandy Harper, Katie Butcher, Melissa Scott, Kristopher Fields, Nicholas Lageman and Kyler Burke; and one great-grandchild, Tatum Harper.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
