COLUMBIA -- A pair of two-out errors in the first inning put the Marshall girls' softball team in a hole Thursday during their loss to the hometown Havoc in the Columbia Diamond Council 18-and-under league.

Marshall managed to decrease its early four-run deficit to a single run when Tara Bartel hit an RBI single and Chelsey Anderson followed with a two-run double in the third inning. However, the Havoc answered in its half of the frame as Bobbie Burnett knocked in a run with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Havoc (2-1) ended the game with four runs in the fourth, the last two scoring on Amanda Clifton's double.

Marshall's scheduled nightcap against Pilot Grove was rained out. Marshall (2-5, 0-3 CDC) will play Monday in the Sedalia League.
