One of two freshmen to become regular starters for the Owls' varsity during the spring season, Lozano is starting to find his warm-weather groove. Against the younger of Lexington's two teams in the Mid-Missouri River League, Lozano went four for four and scored three runs during the Travelers' 15-0, five-inning blowout in the first game, then picked up the win in relief and finished off a seventh-inning comeback with a walk-off hit as Marshall won the nightcap, 8-7.
Marshall got a two-hit shutout in the opener from Josh Toliver, who didn't issue a walk in his five innings of work. Lozano singled to lead off the two-run first inning and had a double in the second, after Tanner Dillon doubled home a run.
The Travelers took advantage of six Lexington errors to score nine runs in the third. There were four hits thrown in, including a double by Tanner Dillon and RBI singles by Lozano, Ryan Smith -- the Owls' other frosh starter -- and Lucas Hart.
Dillon, Khristian Chamberlain, Lozano and Smith all doubled as Marshall plated its final two runs in the fourth.
Lexington committed seven errors for nine unearned runs in the early contest, but the Travelers would provide the shakier defense in the late game.
An error and singles by Josh Keullen and Seth Smith produced two runs for Lexington in the first inning and a lead-off walk to Jake Keullen ultimately led to a run in the third.
Chamberlain doubled and came in on Smith's single for Marshall's first run of the game in the fourth, but things looked bleak for the home team when Lexington used three errors and an RBI single by Dominic Chandler to tally four unearned runs off of Lozano -- who had taken over on the mound the previous frame -- in the fifth.
Lozano didn't give up another hit and the Travelers began their comeback in the sixth when Smith singled in two runs following a single by Chamberlain and Lozano's double. Those occurred before an out had been recorded, but that was all Marshall got.
However, Lexington (0-3, 0-3 MMRL) wasn't able to get the Travelers out at all in the bottom of the seventh. Dillon was plunked with the first pitch of the inning and Hart and Kaleb Brashears singled to load the bases.
Nathan Cato was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Chamberlain tightened the gap to 7-5 with a single. The sacks still packed,
Lozano stepped to the plate and lined a 1-1 pitch into a gap for a three-run triple, Chamberlain ending the game when he crossed the plate.
For the day, Lozano had six hits in seven at-bats, scored four runs and knocked in four runs with four extra-base hits.
Marshall (4-5, 3-1) will be on the road today to play the Sedalia American Legion club.

I thougth there were 9 players on a baseball team. It sounded like Lozano played that one by himself. I wonder what the other players thought. Remember the score was 11-0 not 4-o
