Darlene B. Davis, 70, of Marshall, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Russ Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery in Saline County. Organist Ramona Bullington will play "Amazing Grace," "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers will be Jacob W. Hopkins, James E. Hopkins, Randy L. Hopkins, Timothy J. Peppiatt Jr., Charles D. Scharnhorst and William D. Weinreich. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.
She was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Slater, the daughter of the late Parker and Grace Gordon Butler. On Nov. 13, 1970, she married Paul E. Davis, who survives of the home. She was a resident of Saline County her entire life.
She is survived by eight children, James Hopkins of Marshall, Linda Peppiatt of Canton, Kan., Charles Hopkins of Killeen, Texas, Velda Weinreich of Marshall, Joy Scharnhorst of Marshall, Page Wright of Miami, Tom Wright of Sedalia and Wilbur Wright of Jacksonville, Fla.; two stepchildren, Charles Davis of Shackleford and Patricia Riffe of Sulphur, La.; two brothers, Bill Butler of Madison, Wis., and J.P. Butler of Hollister; two sisters, Doris McMellen of League City, Texas, and Mae Jean DeLaney of Lake Park, Iowa; 34 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Amy Lou Hopkins, and one son, William Randy Hopkins.
