Mildred Louise Kessner Dieckhoff, 90, of Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Dan Wing officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Pallbearers will be Mark Underwood, Mike Green, Bryon Guffin, Jon Dieckhoff, Kenneth Walden, Gary Grapes and G. Wesley Dieckhoff. Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Concordia, she was the daughter of the late John J. Kessner and Clara Gemmil Kessner. On Nov. 29, 1937, she married Lorenz Dieckhoff, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1990. She was a homemaker for 15 years, then worked at Burlington Manufacturing Co. in Concordia for many years and retired from Rival Manufacturing in Sweet Springs. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Phillip W. Dieckhoff of Marshall; one daughter, Sandra J. Jenkins of Thorsby, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Wilson of Concordia; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Dieckhoff; one brother, Fred Kessner; one sister, Genevieve Thomas; one granddaughter, Dorothy Massey; two great-grandchildren, Bill Grapes and Jamie K. Walden; and two great-great-grandchildren, Destany Faith Green and Ty Austin Green.
