Helen Ann Brooks, 73, of Kansas City, died Sunday, June 1, 2008.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133.
Born Sept. 1, 1934, in Marshall, she graduated from Marshall High School, attended Central Missouri State University and later graduated from Rockhurst University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. She was assistant vice president of Pyramid Life Ins. Co., where she served 33 years as director of personnel. She joined the American Association of University Women in 1984. She was president of AAUW from 1993-95, co-president in 1997-98 and served as state treasurer for six years. From 2002-06, she served as committee chair of the Irene Wagy Committee, awarding grants to worthy agencies. She and her husband were longstanding members of Friends of the Rice-Tremonti Home in Raytown (built 1844). She served on the board of directors for many years and was always willing to volunteer her time and extensive culinary skills for the group.
Her husband, Robert E. "Bob" Brooks of Kansas City, and one son, John Brooks of Kansas City, survive her.
