Roger T. Rawlings, 86, of Marshall, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Rev. Russ Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Marshall Senior Center in care of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.
He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Marshall, the son of the late Arthur L. Rawlings and Myrtle Rogers Rawlings. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1940, where he was involved in athletics. Later, he attended University of Missouri in Columbia and played football. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of VFW. On Jan. 31, 1942, at Trenton, he married Shirley J. Noojin, who survives of the home. He attended the Kansas City School of Watchmakers and had owned Rawlings Watch Repair in Marshall for many years before his retirement. He was a resident of Marshall all his life and served on the City Council for two terms. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Additional survivors include two sons, Roger L. Rawlings of Lenexa, Kan., and Larry T. Rawlings of Old Town, Fla.; one daughter, Jean M. Hood of Fairfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, one infant brother preceded him in death.
