Saline County BBQ 2008/Meet the 2008 Saline County Fair Senior Queen candidates

Editor's note: Below are this year's senior queen candidates. In the story to the right, two more junior queen candidates are profiled. Tomorrow we'll feature the first Saline County Fair Queen, Carolyn Erickson.

Hannah Boyer
Hannah Boyer

Hannah Boyer, 18, daughter of Ronda and George Boyer of Napton.

She is a graduate of Slater High School and a member of Clay Center 4-H Club.

She was involved in FFA, NHS, S-Club, A+, Pep Club, basketball, academic bowl, class president and 4-H.

Honors include 2007 Girls Sate Delegate, FFA Leadership Medal, Presidential Academic Excellence, A honor roll and academic bowl award.

Hobbies include traveling, playing sports, hanging out with friends and having a good time.

She plans to attend University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall and major in psychology.

Jennifer Cornine
Jennifer Cornine

Jennifer Marie Cornine, 18, daughter of Diane and Randy Cornine of Marshall.

She is a graduate of Marshall High School and member of Marshall FFA chapter.

She has been involved in Marshall FFA for four years and DECA for two years.

Her honors include A and B honor roll -- four years, Greenhand FFA Degree, Chapter FFA Degree, FFA Scholarship Medal 2007 and 2008, FFA Leadership Medal 2007, Agriculture Service Proficiency Award, Huston Mull Scholarship recipient, Floriculture contest team member second place district competition and she completed evaluation to become Certified Nursing Assistant.

Hobbies include four-wheeler riding, fishing, watching movies, going on walks, hanging out with friends and trying anything new.

She plans to attend State Fair Community College this fall and receive an Associate Degree in agriculture. She will then transfer to University of Central Missouri and major in animal science/pre-vet. Her ultimate career goal upon graduation is to return to Marshall and become a veterinarian assistant.

Nichole Davis
Amber Davis

Amber Nichole Davis, 18, daughter of Kim and Jerry Davis of Miami.

She is a graduate of Marshall High School and a member of Fairville-Reynolds 4-H Club.

She is a member of Marshall FFA chapter, member of Fairville-Reynolds 4-H Club, 4-H president (2 years), 4-H secretary (3 years), member of Miami ME Church, Vacation Bible School volunteer and Church Council Secretary.

Her honors include Academic Excellence (four years), honor roll (four years), Greenhand Degree, Chapter Degree, Outstanding Secretary (4-H), Kiwanis Recordbook Award (two years), first place district Floriculture contest and Area FFA Specialty Animal Proficiency Award.

She plans to attend University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall, majoring in horticulture.

Keli Kruger
Keli Kruger

Keli Elizabeth Kruger, 18, daughter of Kim and David Kruger of Slater.

She is a graduate of Slater High School and a member of Slater FFA chapter.

She was involved in basketball, football cheerleading, S-Club, Pep Club, A+ and National Honor Society.

In honors, she is a nationally published author and poet. She received the Presidential Award for Educational Achievement, four-year letterman and FFA State Leadership Medal.

Hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, reading, playing basketball, cheerleading, taking photographs, singing and mentoring younger students. She likes to stay up to date on agricultural topics and participate in school and FFA activities.

She plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University and major in agricultural education.

Rosalind Thiel
Rosalind Thiel

Rosalind Marie Thiel, 18, daughter of Martene and Donnie Thiel of Marshall.

She is a graduate of St. Paul Lutheran High School and a member of Lucky Leaf 4-H Club.

She was involved in drama, yearbook, a representative of Student Government, varsity soccer, varsity golf and varsity volleyball. She is a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, eight-year 4-H member (four years as secretary), two-year member of National Honors Society, Vacation Bible School craft and game leader for two years, junior high lock-in counselor for two years and St. Paul Lutheran High summer camp counselor for two years.

In honors, she was chosen to be a resident assistant in her high school dormitories, 2007 Saline County Junior Queen, a St. Paul Lutheran High School "Super Saint" and the 2008 Ladies Varsity Golf MVP.

Hobbies include reading, lots of different crafts like crocheting, rug hooking and sculpting on the pottery wheel. She also likes to cook, listen to music and be with friends.

She will be a freshman at Northwest Missouri State University this fall, with plans to major in corporate recreation and minor in nutrition and psychology. She would like to someday improve the quality of living for people with eating disorders.

Rachel Willis
Rachel Willis

Rachel Lynn Willis, 17, daughter of Cheryl and Russell Willis of Marshall.

She is a graduate of Marshall High School and a member of Bizy Beavers 4-H.

She was involved in yearbook, football and basketball cheerleading, MHS Singers and Choraliers, track, National Honors Society, Pep Club and fall musical. She is a member of First Baptist Church.

Her honors include A honor roll, top 10th percentile of class, UCA All-Star Cheerleader, Who's Who Among American High School Students and Academic Excellence Award.

Hobbies include swimming, reading, watching movies with friends and working out.

She plans to attend University of Central Missouri and major in middle school math education.
