Joyce Bennett, 70, of Slater, died Thursday, May 28, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Cremation. Memorial services will be Sunday, June 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Slater United Methodist Church. Rev. Jess Spurgin will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Wind Beneath My Wings." Memorials are suggested to Slater Library in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Aug. 20, 1937, in El Dorado Springs, she was the daughter of the late Delbert Kidd and Inez Marie Jordan Kidd Chase, who survives of Slater. She was married to Charles Bennett Sr., who preceded her in death on March 10, 1981. She was a member of Slater United Methodist Church. She had worked for a number of years as a nurse's aide at Cabrillo Nursing Home in El Dorado Springs and later at Slater Garment Factory and Marshall Habilitation Center. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2814 in Atascadero, Calif.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Charles Bennett Jr. of Winner, S.D., and Michael Bennett of Kansas City; three daughters, Joyce Brzuchalski and Frances Bennett, both of Slater, and Twyla Bennett of the state of California; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, DeWayne Kidd of Sedalia.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Kidd Jr.; one sister, Charlene Davidson; and one granddaughter, Shalimar Plumm.
