Only one bid was received for the position of construction manager for the courthouse renovation project scheduled to begin early in 2009. The commission tabled acceptance of the bid for further study.
The bid, from Septagon Construction of Sedalia, included full-time services of a construction manager for two months and a part-time construction manager for 16 months, computer and miscellaneous costs and a 5 percent fee, for a total of $228,300.
It's the job of the construction manager to oversee the project from start to finish, ensuring compliance with standards set by the architects and others involved in the project.
Commissioners also announced the start-up of engineering planning for repair of a bridge in Slater's Special Road District. Requests for bids for the project, Bridge 2530015, also known as BRO-9743, will be announced at a later time. The bridge is located on Route 117, northeast of Slater.
