The Chiefs trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning, but Catlett tied the score with his first smash after junior Max Capps led off by drawing a walk. Junior Taylor Wesley, senior Brandon Schmidt and junior Logan Kirchhoff smacked RBI singles before Catlett ended the 10-run rally with a grand slam -- his fourth homer of the season.
Catlett drove in six runs during the frame, which is third on the state all-time list for RBIs in an inning.
Santa Fe scored 10 more runs in the fourth, the first two on a bases-loaded double by Schmidt.
Kirchhoff and senior Kenzie Thorp knocked in runs with singles and senior Logan Wesley ended the spree with a slam.
Senior Luke Skidmore hit a solo shot in the fifth for the Tigers (5-7). He had three hits and stole three bases during the contest.
Thorp, a three-time all-state catcher, went four for four, scored three times and brought in two runs -- also throwing out three runners stealing.
The Chiefs (13-0) head into the Class 1, District 15 Tournament at Concordia as the No. 1 seed. Santa Fe will begin defense of is district title Monday with a first-round tilt against winless Sweet Springs.

I applaud these young persons, winners and losers. They have worked their lifetime to develop their talents. Way to go Chiefs!
It is good to see something positive in our world.
