ALMA -- The Santa Fe softball team erased a three-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday to take a 5-4 decision against I-70 Conference Tournament champion St. Paul.
The Lady Saints (11-5) were already ahead by a run in the top of the sixth when a two-out triple by freshman Dana Peters and doubles from senior Sara Reisterer and junior Taylor Vogelsmeier extended the margin to 4-1.
Junior Danielle Bock's (above) single and a pair of walks loaded the bases with one out in the Lady Chiefs' half of the frame. With two outs, a dropped third strike kept the rally alive. The tying run was forced in when junior Katie Peters was hit by a pitch and senior Katie Christopherson singled in the go-ahead run.
Freshman Molly Sander retired St. Paul in order in the seventh to preserve the win.
Santa Fe (8-8), which finished third last week in the St. Mary's Classic at Independence, closes out the season today by hosting Green Ridge. (Chris Allen/Democrat-News)
