Kevin Thomas of Sweet Springs found three large "beefsteak" mushrooms, also known as "false morel" mushrooms, Thursday, May 1. Thomas said after researching the mushroom on the Internet, he learned it is poisonous to some people, but not to others. The largest mushroom weighs 3.13 pounds and is 11-inches tall. "It leaned over when it was growing, otherwise it would be over a foot tall," he said. The other two are estimated at 2 pounds and 1.5 pounds.
