Baseball/Hannibal 10, Marshall 0

Monday, May 5, 2008
HANNIBAL -- Hannibal scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday to put an early end to its 10-0 NCMC victory over the visiting Marshall baseball team.

Sophomore Zach Nichols threw a three-hit shutout for the Pirates, who tallied three runs in the bottom of the second. Senior Alan Ward cracked a two-run single and came in on a grounder after moving to third base on senior Raymond Chou's single.

Most of the damage Hannibal (8-6, 4-2 NCMC) inflicted on the Owls was done with one out, including RBI singles by junior Brandon Mundle, sophomore Charlie Fohey, Ward and sophomore Colin Krigbaum -- the last one ending the game on the "10-run rule."

Senior Josh Glassmaker, freshman John Lozano and junior Kalen Brashears had Marshall's hits -- all singles.

The Owls (6-12, 3-6) are scheduled to play at Mexico today.
