Arzelia Burns, 86, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Marshall, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Bensenville, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., following visitation, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. She was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius D. Bell and Omelia Virginia Jackson Bell. She attended Lincoln School in Marshall and Hubbard High School in Sedalia. She married Clinton Burns, who preceded her in death. She had lived in Chicago most of her life, moving from Marshall, where she attended Handy Chapel AME Church.
She leaves two daughters, Roberta Laws and Ersolene Burns, both of Chicago; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Thelma Hayes and Roberta Bell, both of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ollie Cornelius Bell and Robert L. Bell; her twin sister, Rozelia Rigsby; and two other sisters, Ethel Napier and Beulah Mae Allen.
