William A. "Bill" Weaver, 91, of Marshall, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Born Sept. 6, 1916, in Wellington, he was the son of the late Ivan Weaver and Katherine Elizabeth "Bessie" Curtner Weaver. On Sept. 14, 1940, he married Tommie Lois Hartley, who preceded him in death on July 5, 1990. He had served in World War II with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was assistant police chief for Marshall Police Department in the late 1950s. He returned to Marshall in 1987, moving from Lompoc, Calif., where he had lived since 1961. He attended Church of the Nazarene in Lompoc and was a member of American Legion and American Civil Defense Association.
Survivors include two sons, William Austin "Bill" Weaver Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., and Michael Nelson Weaver of Havasu City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Laverne Willis of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, five sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
