Aptly-named sophomore Graham Powers hit two of those dingers, a three-run shot in the first inning and a solo blast in the fifth. He also tossed a complete game, striking out nine.
Freshman Travis Crowley had a three-run tater in the second, followed by a two-run smash by freshman Ethan Shipp to give the Bulldogs a 9-1 lead.
The Wildcats tried to keep up, but didn't have the same juice. Although only out-hit 11-10, all of Purple's safeties were singles -- including a two-run hit by freshman Levi Thomas in the bottom of the second.
Powers had four hits and drove in seven runs for New Franklin (2-8).
Freshman Ethan Owens and senior Casey Bryson also had RBI singles for Slater (1-9), which is off a week before playing Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Conference foe Salisbury.
