Despite reports that someone has been arrested for this robbery, the U.S. Attorney's office in Kansas City said late yesterday (April 22) that no one has yet been charged.

It may be that the relatively light sentence of 41 months, followed by three years of probation, was imposed because the amount of cash involved was $10,600. The maximum sentence is 20 years and a $250,000 fine - this is a class C felony under 18 USC Section 2113(a). Read the law here: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/usc...

It will be interesting to see if the "new guy" gets a longer sentence, if he took a larger amount of cash. I don't see any reference to whether either of these gentlemen were actually armed, though information on the most recent case says he told the clerk, or strongly implied, that he was. That would probably change the case somewhat.

It seems that the investigation was quick and through. It also seems like the bank in Sweet Springs is a freeway bank for robbers. The last guy who robbed the bank was sentenced to less than four years in prison. Do you think that this bank robber read about it? I wonder who type of sentence this guy will get if he is found guilty?
