No lead is apparently safe against the Marshall baseball team.

Although not as dramatic as their comeback in the final frame from a seven-run deficit to Chillicothe 10 days earlier, the Owls wiped out a 7-1 deficit late in Tuesday's home game against NCMC rival Fulton and won it 10-8 in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off home run by senior Ethan Williams.

It was Williams' three-run shot that got Marshall to within a run of the Hornets during its 13-11 April 5 victory. This time the game was tied when Williams stroked his one-out tater, senior Andrew Bridges waiting at second base with the winning run after junior Cory McComas doubled to lead off the inning.

The Hornets scored two runs in the top of the second on senior Josh Tarongo's two-out single. Freshman John Lozano knocked in the Owls' first run with a single in the third, but Fulton made it 4-1 on freshman Ryan Fritz' two-run single with two outs in the fourth.

A hit batter, singles by juniors Jeremy Lane and Mike Davis, a throwing error on an attempted steal and a passed ball allowed the Hornets to plate three runs in the fifth.

That's when Marshall began to rally, thanks to four errors -- including boots on three straight ground balls -- and freshman Ryan Smith's RBI single for four unearned runs.

Junior Darren Jacobs' solo shot led off the sixth, but Fulton wasn't able to add to its lead after loading the bases with one out -- the Owls turning a nubber in front of the plate into an inning-ending double play.

Marshall packed the sacks in the bottom of the sixth, but was in danger of coming up empty before senior Mike Sartor cleared the bags with a two-out double to tie the contest.

McComas had given up three runs in his two previous relief innings, but held the Hornets scoreless in the top of the seventh -- again with the help of a double play when Jacobs smashed a one-out line drive at senior Tyler Smith, who stepped on second base for the final out of the stanza.

Jacobs had two hits to lead Fulton (3-6, 3-4 NCMC).

Williams scored three runs on two hits and a walk and Ryan Smith also reached base three times, stranded after a one-out double in the second, to pace the Owls (3-8, 1-3) -- who host Mexico Thursday.
