Flick missed a perfect game only because of a one-out walk to sophomore Jermie Pittman in the second inning. By that time the Trojans had built a 14-0 lead.
Sophomore Cody Renzelman started the game with a solo homer and later in the first inning cleared the loaded bases with a double, scoring on Flick's single. Sophomore T.J. Rater added to the Wildcats' opening-frame miseries with a three-run blast.
Renzelman went four for four, driving in five runs and scoring four, for Carrollton (5-5) -- which was a Class 2 playoff team a year ago in only the second season of the program.
Freshman Ethan Owens didn't allow an earned run in three innings of relief for Slater (1-6), which will entertain Fayette today in the play-in game for the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament.
