Henry Clay Cornett, 86, of Straud, Okla., died Thursday, April 3, 2008, in a car accident in Straud.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Straud.
He was born in West Virginia on Sept. 23, 1921, the son of the late Rebel Burton and Bernice Mae Cornett. He had lived in Straud since 1973. He married Bonnie Christian in Texas in 1960. He retired from General Motors in Arlington, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors in two daughters, Ruth Hammons and Sandra Allison of Marshall; four sons, Henry Cornett Jr. of Palestine, Texas, Ron Cornett and Don Cornett of Arlington and Joe Cornett of Straud; four brothers; Charlie Cornett of Straud, J.L. Cornett, Stanley Cornett and Herman Cornett, all of the state of California; three sisters, Ester, Virgina and Letta, all of the state of California; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.
