The only difficulty the Owls faced was at No. 1 singles, where junior Max Bildstein won a 10-4 decision over senior Mike Looney. Senior Taylor Scarff, junior Mac Evans and sophomores John Van and Ethan Murphy all won by 10-0 counts, while senior Ross Crawford rolled to a 10-1 victory.
The Minutemen (0-4) got their only win at No. 1 doubles, as Looney and sophomore Kacey Knox doubled back to edge sophomores Brandon Mullins and Rick Schulenberg -- actually the Owls' No. 4 combo -- by a 10-8 margin. Senior Matt Hockaday and sophomore Mark Fry won at No. 2, 10-8, while freshman Patrick Butler and sophomore Jason Hadley notched a 10-0 whitewash at No. 3.
Marshall (6-0) was supposed to play NCMC rival Hannibal this afternoon in Columbia, but rain has postponed that match. The Owls instead will host the six-team Marshall Tournament on Friday.
