Kenneth D. Morton, 67, of Slater, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Slater. Rev. David L. Duncan will officiate. Bethany Weiker, organist, will accompany Kaylee McEachern as she sings "How Great Thou Art." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Morton, Randy Morton, Danny Bryson, Rick Morton, Roger Bryson and Gary Romine. Honorary pallbearers will be David Morton, Kyle Sillin, Harold Morton Jr. and Willie Bryson. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to ALS Society in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Amos E. and Nannie Fizer Morton. He was married to Doris Taylor, who preceded him in death. He was a retired farmer and lifelong Slater area resident.
He is survived by one son, Tim Morton of Grain Valley; three daughters, Kelly Adams of Marshall, Sheri Frazee and Darla Hemeyer, both of Slater; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Edward Morton, Harold Morton, George Morton and A.C. Morton, all of Slater; and four sisters, Betty Martin, Mary Bryson and Mildred Bryson, all of Slater, and Lucille Durham of Polo.
In addition to hiw wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Morton.
