Missouri Valley College senior Bonnie Johnson has been named to the NAIA all-America third team for her performance during the 2008 season.
Johnson (30), a six-foot forward from Osseo, Minn., led the Lady Vikings in scoring in 20 of their 30 games -- scoring 33 points during an 87-68 victory at Central Methodist on Jan. 10. Her 19.1 points per game was 12th in the NAIA and her 9.4 rebounds per game was 16th. Johnson also was in the national top-20 in offensive rebounds (3.9 per game) and field-goal percentage (52.9).
In her first year at Valley after transferring from Anoka-Ramsey Community College (Minn.) in '07, Johnson was an honorable mention all-NAIA selection.
Also making one of the top three all-America squads from the Heart of America Conference was MidAmerica Nazarene senior forward Jenna Matson -- the league's "player of the year" -- Avila junior forward Ashley Townsend of Orrick and junior forward Abby Winder of Graceland.
