HOUSTONIA -- Sophomore Mariah Wiskur tossed a three-hitter Thursday as Northwest of Hughesville downed the visiting Sweet Springs softball team, 11-1 in five innings.

Junior Shadow Wiskur sparked the Lady Mustangs' offense with three hits, including a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Merideth Norfleet also had three hits and scored twice and senior Ashton Miller contributed a two-run single in the fourth for Northwest (1-0).

The Lady Greyhounds' lone run came on a solo homer by junior Stephanie Krause in the top of the fourth. Krause had two of her team's hits, with sophomore Kristin Jones adding a double.

Sweet Springs (0-2) is scheduled to play at Crest Ridge today.
