2 taken into custody in Gilliam after tussle with officers

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Warrants are being requested by law enforcement officials for two Gilliam residents after an alleged assault on a sheriff's deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper Tuesday, March 25.

The officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at about 7:45 p.m., according to their report.

The trooper was speaking with a male subject outside, while the deputy talked to a female subject inside the residence.

The male began struggling with the officer outside, and when the deputy attempted to assist, the female jumped on his back, according to the report.

According to the statement, the deputy sprayed the women with pepper spray after she would not comply with requests to desist.

The male subject sustained a laceration to the head during the struggle with the other trooper.

The Saline County Sheriff's Department was called for assistance and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

The male suspect was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital for medical treatment, the deputy said. The woman was placed under arrest.

While in the residence, officers seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

Everyone is intitled to their oppion, and that's just what it is... A oppion... I know people who drink and I also know people who smoke, and from what i have seen, out of the two i have seen more violence out of a drinker than a stoner... I do remember a incident that occured probably 15 years ago at a local bar, the police was called, and there was no smoking involved, just drinking, the police was called and a very big alltercation broke out between the police and the DRUNKS, one police officer got bit by the female involved,YES i said BIT and the man and woman both went to jail, i know someone who smoke's because they have glaucoma and it helps with the glaucoma, and i've heard that Montel smokes because he has ms, and it helps him, The indians smoked it all their lives, and the truth be known, alot of people have probably been around someone who was stoned out of their mind and they didn't even know the person was stoned... From what i have seen, smoking just makes the person, very mellow and happy, and if they smoke to much, they usually fall asleep.. where i've seen alot of drinkers out of control wanting to fight, (I was with a friend one night and he had way to much to drink and he just got mad for no reason, got in the car and was hitting a stop sign with the car kept going forward and backwards, took me and several others to get him under control, and then the next day he was like what the hell happend to my car, Now How lovely is that??) and when they have had way to much to drink they end up hugging the porcelin.... Now how much fun is that??? I lived with a guy for 3 years and he would go out and get DRUNK and then come home late at night when i was sleeping and wake me up and start fights with me,It was time for me to GO BYE-BYE and that is just what i did!!! But the people i have been around who smoke are very silly and funny acting, just as calm as they can be... The hard core stuff like coke and meth is what people need to worry about, i had a friend that was on meth, he wouldn't tell me he was using, but it didn't take a scientist to figure it out, he was just down right crazy, and done all kinds of crazy stuff.. I could go on and on about the things he did, but i'm not even gonna bother with it, He was scary!!! Needless to say we are NO longer friends..He had a farm that was given to him by his granparent's beautiful house nice vehichle's and he doesn't have any of it now and he has very few friends, and he come's from a very well know family right in saline county... I lived accross the street from a meth house and i ended up saling my place, For one, i couldn't get any sleep at night because it was going strong accross the street.. And i just didn't want to be around the stuff.. THAT IS THE STUFF THAT PEOPLE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT... I don't smoke, but i used to do my fair share of the drinking and it sure the hell isn't fun hugging the porcelin and waking up the next day thinking you are going to die or wishing you would, or not remembering what you might have done... So i guess everyone is INTITLED TO THEIR OPPION!!!!

There are not many reports on marijuana related deaths, but that is becouse they are reported as accidents. There are still a lot of negative facts about marijuana. At http://www.marijuana-addiction.info/statistics.htm there are a lot of facts about this subject. Some include: "...people high on marijuana show the same lack of coordination on standard "drunk driver" tests as do people who have had to much to drink."

" Reaction time for motor skills, such as driving is reduced by 41% after smoking 1 joint and is reduced 63% after smoking 2 joints." Everyone, users and nonusers, should do some research before they commment.

"...I'm actually just for betterment of our country and lives..."

How in the hell is having a bunch of people stoned out of their gourd working for the betterment of our country and lives?

You seem to want to debate the similarities of alcohol and marijuana...let me give you the only comparison I feel is relevant. If you are caught in possession of any amount of marijuana by the police you will get arrested, not the same for alcohol. If you sell marijuana to another user then you are guilty of a felony and can go to prison, not the same for alcohol.

"...I've been smoking marijuana for over 10 years..." So you are an admitted criminal (that was a statement not a question). How nice to live in your little la la land where you can pick and choose which laws to abide by. People like you are the exact reason we have to have police. What other laws do you feel don't have to be obeyed in your little la la land?

The police are not attacked every time they arrive to assist with a domestic disturbance so that is not typical. Please think before you post.

There are studies out that show Marijuaua is NOT a gateway drug. Research before you post so that you don't sound so dumb.

-- Posted by AnnaBell on Fri, Mar 28, 2008, at 8:52 AM

Whoever said marijuana is a gateway don't know what they're talking about. I've been smoking marijuana for over 10 years and have NEVER experimented with anything else, not even alcohol. So lets start getting our facts straight before we start jumping to conclusions. How can you blame marijuana for this incidence, don't make sense?

-- Posted by The Realist on Thu, Mar 27, 2008, at 10:23 PM

LOL, Well I'm far from a "drugger" I'm actually just for betterment of our country and lives. Have you ever drank any alcohol DAgates?

-- Posted by JohnDoe on Thu, Mar 27, 2008, at 4:19 PM

We are trying to get rid of tobacco in our country right now. Why in the heck would we legalize another toxic substance to kill us off. Other than the druggers no one wants to legalize marijuanna.

-- Posted by DAgates on Thu, Mar 27, 2008, at 11:33 AM

Marijuana should be regulated, taxed, and sold in this country and sold similar to tobacco, in my opinion it would start making us money to lower our taxes, rather than taking the money in taxes to fix the "drug" problem.

Finnaly some one besides me says the truth abot pot.Its the alchohol that kills not the pot. People dont go crazy n get stupid when there stoned its the drinking that causes the problems.

If you dont belive it go smoke a joint n see for yourself. then get drunk.

pot is not dangerouse. smoke one ud see for yourself

-- Posted by kaynmo on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 11:04 PM

Actually if there where an actual term it would be "stupiditis" not "stupididis". And you wouldn't have to post it twice.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 9:48 PM

OOOOps, I assume you bloggers forgot that marijuana is a GATEWAY drug, but you all were probably too stoned to remember!!!!

-- Posted by stinkypinky on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 9:37 PM

Jeeez give em a break.....they're from Gilliam, what do you expect!!!!!!!m'kay

-- Posted by stinkypinky on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 9:36 PM

Sounds as though DAgates knows from personal expierence.

-- Posted by get a clue on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 8:30 PM

Actually marijuana has been scientifically proven to give you stupididis, which is evident by some of the post below...and come to think of it actually explains some of the other moronic post I have seen on this site.

I agree with Wtf... alcohol and marijuana sometimes seem to switch place here. I have heard of many alcohol related deaths and injuries in the news but I haven't ever heard of one death or injury that was directly attributed to marijuana. Here is another one of my posts where I will tell people to OPEN THEIR EYES.

-- Posted by JohnDoe on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 4:27 PM

Nice South Park impression! No, marijuana is not bad, people are bad.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 3:15 PM

Marijooowanna is bad, m'kay!

-- Posted by onpoint on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 3:09 PM

If any substance had anything to do with thier reaction to the cops it was most probably alcohol. I gonna go out on a limb and assume that you know nothing about marijuana. If you did you would'nt have asked that question. I have smoked my share over the years and have been around many smokers as well and have never, ever seen anyone become combative as a result of using marijuana, quite the opposite actually. Alcohol on the other hand........It's time to legalize or decriminalize marijuana. It's time to end the witch hunt and let law enforcement concentrate on dangerous drugs.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 3:00 PM

Sounds like typical behavior from certain Gilliam residents towards law enforcement.

-- Posted by cutler06 on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 3:00 PM

Javelin, I agree. Could not have said it better myself.

-- Posted by justme4now on Wed, Mar 26, 2008, at 2:58 PM

How typical! The man and woman get into a fight, the police are called and when they arrive to assist, the police are attacked! Do you think the marijuana and paraphernalia had anything to do with this?!! Put them both in jail for a long time.
