Miami man arrested on 2 warrants, turned over to Lafayette County

Wednesday, March 26, 2008

A Miami man was arrested by Saline County sheriff's deputies Tuesday, March 25, on warrants for felony forgery and probation violation.

Jacob Clements, 31, had two active warrants for his arrest, according to a report from the sheriff's department.

One warrant was for failing to appear on felony forgery charges out of Lafayette County, and the other warrant was for felony probation violation on child support out of Miller County, deputies said.

Clements was apprehended after a deputy on routine patrol was passing a residence formerly occupied by Clements, when noticed a white four-door Ford truck parked in the driveway.

The deputy said he recognized this as the vehicle of one of Clements' acquaintances and called more officers for assistance.

The officer then pulled into the driveway to talk with the male acquaintance. According to the report, the man claimed he was cleaning the mobile home residence and was the only person there at the time.

He refused to allow law enforcement to enter the home, stating that he couldn't because he did not own it.

Another deputy soon arrived on the scene to assist.

Upon his arrival, the officers noticed cattle in a pasture near the back door acting strange.

The officers ran to the back door, where they spotted Clemens attempting to flee the scene.

Clements was taken into custody without incident, while the acquaintance was released at the scene.

After his apprehension, Clements was turned over to Lafayette County authorities and transported to Lafayette County Jail.

JC has been an acquaintance of mine for over four years. He is a man with a lot of talent. Unfortunately his choice of life style has proved to be his undoing.

Why don't you guys just leave it alone? It's pretty sad your lives are so dull that you are worried about finding someone on myspace.

Response by Eric Crump/Editor:
The problem was not that someone was being criticized. The problem was *how* (insults and unverifiable accusations) and *where*. This is not the place to carry on a private feud.

Discussion about this story got out of hand quickly and then got worse. We had people calling names, making unverified accusations, defending the person involved in the arrest, etc. Then we had people demanding that comments criticizing the guy be deleted and people demanding that comments criticizing the guy NOT be deleted.

So I deleted them all.

Not all the comments here were unacceptable and I apologize to those who posted responsibly. The whole situation was out o' control.

Can we start again? (But leave out the personal arguments, name calling and so on.)
