The Vikings put together five crooked-number rallies while defeating MidAmerica Nazarene, 12-2 and 8-4.
Valley displayed its vaunted power in the opener, senior Kyle Eley -- the NAIA's slugging leader -- blasting his 11th homer of the season to score three runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Junior Kevin Challoner also had a three-run shot, this while the Vikings were tallying seven runs in the third. It was the fourth time this season that Eley and Challoner had both homered in the same game.
The Vikings only had three hits during their big rally, including a double by junior Steven Montijo and senior Richard Knutz's two-run single.
Junior southpaw Kevin Ricketts went the distance for Valley, allowing only four hits and striking out seven.
The Pioneers (10-9, 3-7 HAAC) showed some spark to begin the nightcap, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning -- the last two on freshman Mike Elliott's single -- but sophomore Cody Gardner shut them down the next four frames and juniors Jacob Conroy and Aaron Stender each mopped up with a scoreless inning.
The Vikings got two runs back in their half of the first, senior Russell McGinnis driving in a run with a double and scoring on junior Nate Combs' single.
Montijo and juniors Jake Unger and José Molina each doubled and scored as Valley took the lead in the second. Three runs in the fourth, two coming in on a double by Knutz and the other on McGinnis' single, provided plenty of insurance.
Knutz had three hits and drove in five runs on the day for the Vikings (13-15, 7-5), who will try to climb further up the HAAC standings Friday and Saturday during a four-game series at Evangel.
