Helen Marie Chevalier, 85, of Marshall, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with visitation following until 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born August 30, 1922, in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Ray A. Johns and Bertie E. Stoner Johns. On March 18, 1941, she married Russell "Duke" Chevalier, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1981. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a graduate of Miami High School. She attended business college in Kansas City. She had worked for Saline County ASCS office for many years and was the secretary/treasurer of Van Meter-Teteseau Levee District. She was a 63-year member of Marshall Chapter 408 Order of the Eastern Star and served as past worthy matron of the Miami Chapter and as past district deputy grand matron of the 24th district. She was a member of Miami United Methodist Church and Friends of Miami.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Jill R. Fields and her husband, James, of Linn Creek; three great-grandchildren, Kody Wright, and Gabrielle and Izabelle Fields; two brothers-in-law, Jim Chevalier and his wife, Imogene, of Marshall and Jo-Dale Chevalier and his wife, Gale, of Miami; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Boedeker and her husband, Bill, of Marshall; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Chevalier.
