Mildred I. Tygart, 89, formerly of Marshall, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Smithville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, with Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Skates, Mike Campbell, Jimmy Dean Howard, Brad Jewell, Logan Howard and Mike Tygart. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Skates, Jerry Lynch, Norman Howard, Phil Howard and York Jewell. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warrensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Marshall or Cross Roads Hospice in Liberty.
She was born March 16, 1918, to George Frederick and Edna Beatrice Carder Howard at a farm north of Chilhowee. On Sept. 21, 1938, she married Charles Tygart in Warrensburg, and they celebrated 66 years together. Charles passed away in 2005. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshall. After retirement, they enjoyed being with family. She enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center, the hospital and working on election boards. She enjoyed raising day lilies and a mixture of other flowers.
Survivors include one sister, Hazel Hunt of Prairie Village, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Pauline Howard of Liberty; two brothers, Loyd Howard of Gladstone and Herb Howard and his wife, Nila, of Urich; two brothers-in-law, Audrey Tygart of Smithville and Vernon Tygart of Kansas City; two sisters-in-law, Venita Heidler and Clara Fiene, both of Warrensburg; one aunt, Bessie Carder; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Howard; two brothers-in-law, Shelby Tygart and Alva Tygart; and one sister-in-law, Gladys Hanson.
