Glenn Edward Evert, 88, of Emma, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at St. John United Church of Christ in Emma, with Pastor Clint Wilson officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia. Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Emma, he was the son of the late Edwin Henry Evert and Selma C. Meyer Evert. He had lived in Emma his entire life and was a 1938 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then became a purchasing agent for Allen Marketing, retiring in 1982. On Oct. 6, 1979, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma, he married Frances Bredehoeft Fischer, who survives of the home. He was a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ, where he served on the board, and was also a member of VFW Post 5649 in Concordia.
Additional survivors include his stepdaughter, Sandra Evans of rural Sweet Springs; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cletus Evert.
