Dorothy J. Williams, 86, of Holden, formerly of Marshall, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery south of Concordia. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Marshall Senior Center and online condolences may be sent to www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born July 16, 1921, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Oxford Adolph Scharnhorst and Elizabeth Margaret Brown Scharnhorst. She was married to Eldon Williams, who preceded her in death. She had lived in Marshall most of her life, where she was a homemaker. She worked at several restaurants for many years. She was actively involved at Marshall Senior Center and had helped arrange transportation for older adults through the OATS administration.
Survivors include four sons, Oxford Lee Griffitts of Holden, Robert Arthur Griffitts of Warrensburg, Edward Dale Williams of Gladstone and David Allen Williams of Kansas City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earnest Scharnhorst of St. Joseph and Earl Scharnhorst of Independence; three sisters, Marie Sprinkle of Kansas City, Betty Deibel and Rose Alleen Mullins, both of Marshall; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Griffitts; three daughters in infancy; two brothers; and three sisters.
