Every week we meet wonderful new kids eager to join in with the songs, stories and crafts. Already, after only a few months, I could not imagine the library without the laughter of our "regulars."
I honestly believe these guys have taught me more than I have ever learned from any school. So when I was offered the chance to share this joy with Marshall, of course I jumped at the chance.
Once a month, we will be featuring book reviews from some of our younger patrons. This first week I would like to introduce you to Sydnee Nichols, five years old, daughter of Leslie Nichols of Marshall. Sydnee, in her own words, would like to share with you a book she read titled "Tummy Trouble" by Josephine Page, illustrated by Ken Edwards.
What is this book about? "Clifford (the Big Red Dog) eats a bunch of bones and gets a tummy ache."
Why did they eat so many bones? "Him and T-Bone and Cleo were doing tricks. Clifford even made his body like a 'C'. They ate all the bones and then ate all of the two more boxes of bones."
What did Emily Elizabeth do? "She thought Clifford ate the one she gave him, not all of the others. They were laying around with their bellies out."
What should they have done instead of eating so many treats? "They should only eat one bone a day."
I wish I had talked to Sydnee last week before I got a bellyache from all of the Valentine's Day candy! Sydnee did a lot better than I did this year.
You can check out this and other Clifford the Big Red Dog books at the Marshall Public Library.
And don't forget our story times for all ages. Join us for crafts, songs, and more great books. Every week: Mondays at 5:30 p.m. for all ages. Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for children 3 to 7 years old, Wednesdays at 10 a.m. for children birth to 1 year and at 10:45 a.m. for children 1 to 2 years old.
Watch next month for our next kid's book review.
