Slater school board discusses committees, creation of new position

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

The Slater School District Board of Education met on Feb. 11 to discuss the recent selection of site-based committees.

Teachers and staff were responsible for nominating and voting on the committees.

"(There was a) good representation of both groups," said Slater Superintendent John McEachern.

Site-based committees are intended to give parents and teachers a role in local education issues.

The board also discussed the need to appoint an assistant treasurer.

Auditors advised the district to hire an assistant treasurer capable of acting when the current treasurer is unavailable.

McEachern said the assistant treasurer should always be in town and easy to reach. He recommended board member Becky Uhlich and the board unanimously agreed.
