Jane Leona Dillon Kearney, 76, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Kearney, Teddy Kearney, Jeffrey Kearney, Keith Balke, Kevin Simpson and Phillip Pitts. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Kearney Jr., Shane Paul, Amanda Balke, Crystal Kearney, Rachel Kearney, Melissa Simpson, Kimberly Kearney and Haley Kearney. Friends may call after noon Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Calvary Baptist Church in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.
She was born in Sweet Springs on April 18, 1931, the daughter of Albert J. Dillon and Minnie Vera Marquess Dillon. She attended school in Sweet Springs. On Jan. 29, 1952, she was married to Don R. Kearney in Harrison, Ark., who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1978. They moved to Sedalia after their marriage, and she began working for Town and Country Shoes, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a former member of Women of the Moose and a women's bowling league.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Kearney and Terry Joe Kearney, both of Sedalia; nine brothers, Albert Dillon of Napton, Carroll Wayne Dillon of Marshall, Darrell Dillon and Johnny Ray Dillon, both of Houstonia, Jackie Dillon, Jerry Dillon, Brian Dillon and Scott Dillon, all of Sweet Springs, and Aaron Dillon of Sedalia; two sisters, Dorothy Cornine and Mary Ann Johnson, both of Houstonia; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Delbert Dillon, and two sisters, Kathryn Sleeper and Betty Lou Gaddy.
