James Newberry "J.N." Moore Jr., 80, of Sweet Springs, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Fairview Cemetery, with Rev. Jim West and Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sweet Springs American Legion Post 279.
Born April 12, 1927, in Tarpon Springs, Fla., he was the son of the late James Newberry Moore Sr. and Beulah Davis Moore. He was a 1945 graduate of Blackwater High School and joined the U.S. Navy that same year during World War II. On July 9, 1950, he married Vivian Widder, who survives of the home. He lived in Sweet Springs since the 1940s and was a car salesman for Turner-Berry Chevrolet and Hall Motor Company. He was a member of American Legion Post 279 in Sweet Springs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Russell Moore of Sweet Springs, along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
