Faye Irene Slack, 86, formerly of Saline County, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Colonial Springs Nursing Home in Buffalo.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Montgomery-Viets Chapel, with Rev. Russell Adams officiating. Recorded selections of "One Day at a Time" and "How Great Thou Art" were played. Pallbearers were Kevin Inskeep, Brian Slack, Corey Slack, Jeff Slack, Mitchell Slack and Randy Slack. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Leftridge, Kyle Pettyjohn, Dennis Slack II, Greg Slack, Jared Slack and Mike Slack. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
She was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Plad, the daughter of Elic Van Buren Rambo and Missouri Ellen (Taylor) Rambo. On Nov. 12, 1938, she married Lendol Morris Slack. They lived a number of years in Saline County, where she was a supervisor for Banquet Foods. She was a member of Pittsburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Lendol Derald Slack of Malta Bend, Dennis Harold Slack of Kansas City and Richard Lynn Slack of Bolivar; two daughters, Joyce Faye Scott of Olathe, Kan., and Patricia Sue Templeton of Buffalo; one sister, Opal Barb of Plainville, Kan.; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Tommy, six brothers and three sisters.
