Elsie W. Leimkuehler, 92, of Slater died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at Slater United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jess Spurgin officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "The Old Rugged Cross" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Schmidt, Jr. Schmidt, David Schmidt, John Schmidt, Ray Westhues and Jesse Swanson. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born Nov. 2, 1915, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Gus and Nora Heuman Janneck. On March 22, 1936, in Nelson, she married Frank W. Leimkuehler, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1992. She was a longtime member of Slater United Methodist Church, a member of the Kum Join Us Sunday school class and a former member of the church choir.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Schmidt of Glasgow; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy Janneck of rural Slater.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one son, Wendell Leimkuehler; and one brother, Joe Janneck.
