Ernest Hawkins, 71, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be sent to www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born Jan. 13, 1937, in rural Marshall, he was the son of the late Jesse Hawkins and Janie Knox Hawkins. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a farmer for many years.
Survivors include one son, Edward Lee Hawkins of Slater; two daughters, Melinda Welch of Raytown and Jamie Barnett of Marshall; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Hawkins of Marshall and John Hawkins of Slater; two sisters, Sally Allen of DeSoto, Kan., and Linda Conner of rural Marshall; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Hawkins.
