SEDALIA -- Sacred Heart broke open a tight game with a 17-4 run during the third quarter Wednesday to take a 49-29 non-conference victory over the Sweet Springs girls' basketball team.

The Lady Greyhounds hung around for a half, getting three buckets -- including a three-pointer -- from junior Stephanie Krause. Meanwhile, the Lady Gremlins didn't get their outstanding post player, junior Laura McMullin, cranked up until the second period -- when she sank four shots to put her club in front at the half, 19-17.

Krause cooled off after the break, but McMullin didn't -- racking up 10 points during the third frame. Sweet Springs only managed 12 second-half points, becoming "tentative offensively," according to head coach Boyd Jones.

McMullin finished with 20 points for Sacred Heart (14-5), which last week won its second straight Slater Wildcat Classic title.

Krause had nine points and senior Laura Keesaer added five points and six rebounds for the Lady 'Hounds (12-5), who play a critical I-70 Conference game Friday at Concordia.
