Irene M. "Skip" Dennis, 91, of Marshall, formerly of Sweet Springs, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Roger Herndon, Mike Herndon, Ryan Lear, Howard Dale Thomas, Tom Wyatt, Doug Darling and Dick Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Gilmore and Jimmy Gilmore. Born Feb. 14, 1916, in Malta Bend, she was the daughter of the late William McKee and Susie Bennett McKee. On Nov. 10, 1951, she married Joseph L. Dennis, who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1986. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of First Christian Church. She had worked at International Shoe Company in Marshall for over 28 years and prior to that had worked at Stampers for 10 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Lana Jo Lear and her husband, Mike, of rural Sweet Springs; one grandson, Ryan Lear and his wife, Tracy, of Independence; one sister, Delores Oliver of Henderson, Nev.; one brother, Robert McKee of Lewisville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
