The mother of the 6-year-old victim contacted the Sheriff's Department at about 8:30 p.m. to report the incident, according to the deputy's report.
The victim said he was walking up the driveway when he saw a black male reaching out to grab him. The victim screamed and ran, causing the man to leave the scene, the report said.
The child said the man was wearing a black hat, black shirt, brown pants and "fancy" brown and white tennis shoes, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The child did not see the subject get in or out of a vehicle.
The Sheriff's Department collected a statement from the victim's 8-year-old brother, who also saw a black male running from the scene.
His report, however, differed slightly from the victim's.
The brother said the man was wearing sunglasses, a blue baseball hat and brown pants, according to the report.
A deputy spoke with numerous residents in Nelson, but were unable to obtain further information about the subject. The investigation is continuing, the Sheriff's Department said.

A stranger abduction is the worst kind! The statistics are appalling. For instance, about 74% of stranger abduction victims are killed within 3-3 1/2 hours from the time of the abduction. Also, it takes a trained professional a minimum of 2 hours to gain needed (basic) information from an upset parent. You can do the math on how much time is left to send out an alert.
There is a constant concern at AmberAlert.com when police use our alerting system, and that is how long did it take law enforcement to get information from a parent regarding their missing child?
Thats why we created the Child ID Kit, www.amberalert.com/idkit. It is software we created that allows parents to hold their child's most up-to-date information at their fingertips. With this a parent is ready for any emergency situation. Its so easy to use and is very secure.
I recomend this to all people with children in their lives.
Parents and loved ones can prevent a child from going missing all they want, but how prepared are we really when our child goes missing?
The Child ID Kit was made specifically to ease the transfer of information from parent or guardian to law enforcement.
It holds hundreds of images, medical information, online information, contact information and much more. Its a one time buy and lasts a lifetime! Check it out.
