Edwin D. Nelson, 41, of Sweet Springs suffered moderate injuries early Sunday morning, Jan. 27, in a one-car accident on South Outer Road, about 0.10 miles west of the North Outer Road overpass, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Nelson was eastbound on South Outer Road of Interstate 70 when he lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet and traveled off the left side of the road, according to the report.

After leaving the road, the vehicle overturned numerous times and came to rest on its wheels. Nelson's vehicle was totaled in the accident, troopers said.

Nelson was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving and driving while intoxicated, according to the accident report.

Nelson refused medical treatment at the scene; he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, troopers said.
