Virginia F. Rehkop, 89, of Blackburn, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Blackburn, with Rev. Glenn Nowack officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery. Born July 28, 1918, in rural Nelson, she was the daughter of the late Everett Townsend and Janie Imogene Hogge Townsend. On Dec. 4, 1937, in St. Joseph, she married Harry William Rehkop Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1985. She lived in Saline County her entire life, and lived a majority of it in the rural Blackburn area. She was a 1935 graduate of Boonville High School and attended Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg. She was a rural school teacher in Saline County and then worked at Marshall Habilitation Center until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the LA-Saline Extension Club and was a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Everett W. Rehkop and his wife, Donna, of rural Blackburn and Harry W. Rehkop Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Blackburn; two daughters, Jean Edwards and her husband, Robert Jr., of rural Malta Bend and Dorothy Bremer and her husband, David, of Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, one brother, one sister and one nephew.
