Robert Gene Venable, 74, of rural Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Big Bend Retreat. Born Sept. 21, 1933, in rural Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Roy B. Venable and Ruby L. Houston Venable. On April 1, 1956, he married Louzetta Fern "Lou" Vaught, who survives of the home. He had lived in rural Sweet Springs his entire life, where he was a farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sweet Springs.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Rebecca A. Limback of Waverly; one son, Russell E. Venable of Santa Fe, N.M.; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Ralph Venable of rural Sweet Springs; and nieces and nephews.
