Elmer O. Fischer, 95, of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery in Blackburn. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church, in care of Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home.
He was born June 4, 1912, in Stover, the son of the late Otto and Martha Markel Fischer. He married Frances H. "Fannie" Stoll on Nov. 23, 1935, in Blackburn; she preceded him in death on July 29, 2001. He was a bulk fuel dealer for Skelly Oil for over 50 years, serving Saline County. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Marshall Lions Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary F. Thompson and her husband, Harold, of Marshall; one son, David E. Fischer of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
